Opened in June, 1997, the Blue Whole Gallery brings together more than 35 well-known and emerging Northwest artists in a creative celebration of fine art. Works created by our members are as varied and invigorating as the natural splendor of the Olympic Peninsula. The Gallery has hosted workshops, demonstrations, and exhibitions, and our artists have participated in many art and community events since that time. We continue to be a vibrant contributor to the Arts in the Northwest. At left you will find the ”Mug Shots” of the artists who are presently in the gallery.
A new show is hung in the gallery at the beginning of every month. Then, on the First Friday of the month, we hold a reception from 5:00 to 8:00pm for the public to view the new showing of artworks for that month. Refreshments are served. Many other shops and restaurants in downtown Sequim are open on First Fridays along with us, so there is plenty to see and do.
If you are in Sequim on the First Friday of any month, we invite you to join us to celebrate the opening of the new show and to meet and mingle with our Member Artists.
The Blue Whole Gallery is a Cooperative Gallery. That means that all members of the Gallery contribute to the operating expenses of the Gallery through both monthly membership dues and commissions on work that is sold in the Gallery. In addition, all members participate in the day-to-day operation of the Gallery through regular duties such as Gallery sitting and maintenance, membership on various committees, assisting with preparation and serving of food and beverage at Gallery functions (such as the monthly First Friday celebration), and special projects.
Stop by the Gallery, talk with one of our members while you are there, and pick up a membership application. There will be a jury process to ensure that your work is suitable and professional for display in the Gallery. We invite you to join us!
