About Us

Christmas doorOpened in June, 1997, the Blue Whole Gallery brings together more than 35 well-known and emerging Northwest artists in a creative celebration of fine art. Works created by our members are as varied and invigorating as the natural splendor of the Olympic Peninsula. The Gallery has hosted workshops, demonstrations, and exhibitions, and our artists have participated in many art and community events since that time. We continue to be a vibrant contributor to the Arts in the Northwest. At right you can see the entrance to the Gallery, decorated for the Holiday season.

Gallery WallThe 2000+ square foot gallery is centrally located in downtown Sequim. Staffed by the Member Artists, the atmosphere is informal and congenial. The name of the gallery comes from a term pilots use to describe the “blue hole” in the skies above Sequim which contrasts with the normally cloudy pacific northwest. The “hole” in the clouds was changed to “whole” to convey the concept of “wholeness” in terms of the overall diversity of media and styles represented in our gallery.

First Friday

Fifth BirthdayA new show is hung in the gallery at the beginning of every month. Then, on the First Friday of the month, we hold a reception from 5:30 to 7:00pm for the public to view the new showing of artworks for that month. Refreshments are served. Many other shops and restaurants in downtown Sequim are open on First Fridays along with us, so there is plenty to see and do.

If you are in Sequim on the First Friday of any month, we invite you to join us to celebrate the opening of the new show and to meet and mingle with our Member Artists.
