Artist Statement

I believe that art can be found and should be a part of all of our lives everyday and I am always striving to make it so. And just as life offers choices so are there are many different mediums to explore. I paint in oils, watercolor and gouache, draw in charcoal, graphite and colored pencil. I design and create all of the framing for my work. I build furniture both large and small using natural wood finishes or decorative paint. I hand color decorative papers, create 3D wall hangings and sculptures. I enjoy dabbling in fine art photography. Even my garden is a work of art!

My background is equally diverse. I was raised in the Philadelphia area and studied Fine Art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. I then took advantage of opportunities to apprentice with a master craftsman builder and historical restoration expert where I was trained in the fine art of furniture making and finishing. After moving to Florida I began to compete in art shows and participate in various charitable efforts showcasing my art and craftsmanship. These efforts generated high awards as well as local recognition and accolades.

dcw artist 111512Since moving to Sequim with my family in 2012 I have enjoyed exploring this beautiful area by seeking out inspiring settings and painting ‘plein air’. I have also become captivated by the amazing color palettes found in nature here in the Pacific NW. I have enjoyed experimenting with these highly saturated, rich combinations of color in my decorative paint work on furniture. With that as a beginning, I feel that I can look forward to many rewarding years to come in this spectacular area.

I hope that my enthusiasm for art and life will be appreciated and supported here as we build our future in our new community.
