Cynthia Thomas

I was introduced to art as a small child and I have studied art ever since. Over the years, I have explored different areas and media including color theory, composition, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, pottery and jewelry. I achieved a BFA from California College of Arts and Crafts and a MA at San Jose State University, both degrees in Metal Arts and Jewelry Design. From 1969 to 1979 I won numerous awards for my jewelry. I worked in the jewelry industry as a goldsmith, master model maker, and in design research and development from 1979 to 1992. In 1992, I took a bronze casting class that allowed me to fulfill my dream to create larger pieces. I have shown my art work throughout the Western US in Galleries and at Fine Art Festivals as well as New York and Chicago.

My bronzes reflect the spiritual, emotional and physical connection of humans and nature through visual metamorphoses. The bronze sculptures are my vision to connect our humanness with nature through metamorphic imagery. The sculptures enhance the need to walk gently on this Earth, as all Earth’s creatures are made up of the same elements and energies, and thus we are all connected.
