Dianne Johnston
Dianne Johnston
Dianne Johnston, potter, uses the Chinese symbol for “pottery” as part of her chop (chop is a signature on a pot). When searching a dictionary for the pottery symbol, she discovered that the same symbol is used for “happy”. What an unanticipated delight! Dianne feels some of the same pleasurable chanciness with raku. For her, the results of the raku process are unpredictable. Most often, the results are exciting.
In addition to hand building raku pots, Dianne creates sculptures in stoneware. She also is expanding her creative passions to include collage and multimedia works.
Dianne can be reached by email at bobdjohnston@msn.com. In addition to her works in the Blue Whole Gallery, her pottery is in galleries in Port Townsend and LaConner.
