Karin Anderson, mixed media artist and Port Angeles native, is always eager to experiment and try something new. She mixes acrylic, watercolor, gouache and pastel to create both realistic and expressionist paintings on paper and canvas. She works quickly, incorporating a loose drawing style with layers of paint, sometimes scraping it back to reveal rich colors and interesting textures.

She combines a love for color and texture with energetic line work to present everyday objects in new ways. Clothes pins, a fork, a nest, a single pear or pomegranate have been favorite subjects.

She has recently begun working in collage and assemblage, creating fanciful pieces from found objects, wood, wire, metal and fabric.

Karin’s work can be found at the Blue Whole Gallery
