Lynn Armstrong will open a new show, “Landscapes and Life Studies”, during Port Townsend’s Gallery Walk on Saturday September 6, 2008 in The Wine Seller Artist Loft at 1010 Water Street, Pt. Townsend.  Her paintings will be featured throughout the month of September.  Stop by September 6th from 5:00 to 8:00 to enjoy Lynne’s beautiful paintings and wine pouring.  

Priscilla Messner-Patterson has received a Public Service Award from the Department of Homeland Security for her paintings accepted into the U.S. Coast Guard 2008 Art program. Ms. Patterson has been a member of the program since 1994 and has received numerous awards from the Coast Guard for her work. Lynne Armstrong, Gail Larson, and Maria Loe had works accepted into the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center Strait Art 2008 Exhibition, March 16 - May 11, 2008. Jake Seniuk, PAFAC director and exhibition curator remarked, “Lynne Armstrong’s watercolors eschew prettiness for mood. Maria Loe’s clay figurines look as if they might have been unearthed on some rocky Aegean isle. Gail Larson (homes in) directly on painterly gestures that stand only for themselves.

Priscilla Messner-Patterson has had two paintings accepted into the Coast Guard Art Program’s 2008 permanent collection. Messner-Patterson has been a member of the program, which tells the story of the Coast Guard mission through art, since 1994. She has received numerous commendations for her work.

Catherine Mix is featured in the “Art on the Peninsula” section of Pacific Northwest Home (March/April Issue). The article includes eleven color images of her pastel paintings, a brief story of her notable art career and association with the Blue Whole Gallery.

George Zien and Patricia Starr had paintings accepted in the Arizona Watercolor Association’s 2008 National Exhibition, February 3 - February 29, 2008. Juror Chris Van Winkle, President of the National Watercolor Society, reviewed hundreds of paintings and selected 60 works for the show. He commented, ” I look for the unusual, the original, the creative. A lot of high quality work does not make the cut. The next 100 on my list would make a great show of themselves.”
