Estes Builders partnered with the Blue Whole to have artist work hung in their beautiful business building. The first artists to have work there are Lynne Armstrong and Mary Franchini. Katherine Loveland’s work titled “Sculptors with Water and Rust” received the juror’s award in the Wind Water exhibit in the Northwind Arts Center, Port Townsend. The exhibit will be on 3/2-3/27, 2017. Juror: Susan Parke (Executive Director and Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, Museum of Northwest Art in la Conner; Bd of Directors of the Washington State Art Alliance). Congratulations!

Terry Grastiet has been accepted in the CVG show in Bremmerton, Wa. It is the 2017 Annual Washington State Juried Art Competition and Show. It starts January 21, 2017 and goes through February 25. Congratulations Terry!!!

News for 2016
Small Expressions 15, Northwind Arts Center’s popular juried exhibit of small artworks, runs through January 2, 2017. This exhibit includes artworks by 72 artists from Jefferson, Clallam and Kitsap counties, and showcases a range of diverse media from jewelry, painting and sculpture to ceramics, fiber, photography and printmaking. Juror Donna Watson selected 142 works from over 270 pieces submitted, and remarked: I was impressed by the quality of work and the variety of mediums submitted.
David Tinsley had a piece, “Silent Sobs”, accepted in Peninsula Art League 2016 open juried show at the Harbor History Art Museum in Gig Harbor from Sept 9th thru Oct 30.
Kate Loveland also is in the Juried show with “Etchings: Sun, Ice and Sea Grass” and BOTH OF THEM WON PRIZES: David, 1st in 3D, Art Commission award and People’s Choice! Kate won Best in Photography!

Congratulations to our members who were juried in to the Olympic Peninsula Art Association 2016 Juried Show. It is being held at the Port Angeles Fine Art Center and will be there May 27-June 26. Hours : Thurs-Sunday, 11 am-5 PM.

Blue Whole members Karin Anderson & Barb Boerigter have art work accepted into the city of Sequim’s Black and White Show at the Sequim Civic Center. Karin’s piece is a collage titled “Distant Conversations”. Barb’s piece is a found object sculpture titled “Ovid/Ovoid. The show runs from April 1st -June 30th in the lobby of the center and is open during regular business hours.
