Oil and Stained Glass

My love of art started with my first box of Crayola Crayons.  When the box fell apart, one of my dad’s old Prince Albert Tobacco Tin became the crayon’s home.  Later, as an adult, my crayons were replaced with brushes and oil paint.

While living in England where my husband worked as a civilian at RAF, Menwith Hill, I attended an art exhibition given by fellow Americans at the base.  I was so impressed and excited.  I found an informal painting group on base.  I painted along side women who were just doing their own thing.

After several months and the insistence and encouragement from my husband and son, I mustered up the courage to enter several of my paintings at the station’s next art show.  Much to my surprise, one of my paintings won the People’s Choice Award.  I was Hooked!!  My son and husband were always my staunchest fans.

When we returned to the states in California, I began to enter more shows and won numerous ribbons and awards (some even monetary).

Along with oil painting, my husband introduced me to stained glass.  He paid for some lessons from a friend of his.  A friend of mine owned a small coffee house in Moss Beach, where we lived, Faye, the owner, encouraged me to bring in my stained glass and I began to sell.

After returning to Washington, via 2 years in Arizona, I was a member of several galleries, until I found the Blue Whole Gallery.

I have been doing all of my art for a little over 20 years and am still in awe with art and its challenges.
