Join us at the Blue Whole Gallery on Friday, June 27th for a special live demonstration by ceramic artist Terri Biondolino, who will share the intricate process of Nerikomi—a traditional ceramic technique that layers and fuses colored clays into stunning, patterned works of art.
Originating during China’s Tang Dynasty and refined in Japan in the 1970s, Nerikomi is a labor-intensive method that involves stacking, slicing, and arranging differently pigmented clays to create patterns that are embedded throughout the entire piece—not just on the surface. The result is a vivid fusion of form, texture, and embedded color that makes every piece entirely unique.
During this engaging demonstration, Terri will walk guests through the step-by-step process of preparing, layering, and cutting clay to reveal the intricate designs hidden within.
Whether you’re a ceramic artist, an art enthusiast, or simply curious about traditional techniques with a modern twist, please stop by for this free and open to the public demonstration!
