Beginning in May, the Blue Whole Gallery is pleased to welcome metal sculptor Gary Roberts to the gallery’s diverse collection of artists in Sequim.
Gary brings a unique combination of architectural precision and artistic creativity to his work. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Architecture, he spent more than 40 years practicing architecture before dedicating himself fully to the art world after retirement.
Throughout his career, Gary continued to explore his passion for metal art by taking welding and metal sculpture classes and creating artwork in his spare time. After relocating to Sequim, he transformed that longtime passion into a full-time artistic pursuit.
Today, Gary specializes in handcrafted mild steel sculptures featuring richly layered paint and patina finishes. His process combines airbrushing, sponging, and hand-applied techniques to create visually dynamic pieces filled with texture, movement, and striking color.
“I’m addicted to color,” Gary says, and that passion is immediately evident in his work. His sculptures feature bold, vibrant finishes designed to energize and engage the viewer.
Visitors to Blue Whole Gallery will discover sculptures that blend strong structural design with expressive artistic detail, reflecting both his architectural background and his love of creative experimentation.
