Melissa Doyel has drawn, painted or hand crafted most of her life and loves exploring new ways to create. She moved to Sequim, WA with her husband and 2 cats in 2018 from Fiddletown, a small town in the Sierra foothills in CA. Now in ‘creative retirement’, she loves exploring the beautiful Olympic Peninsula and finding new inspiration for her paintings.
Melissa paints primarily in watercolor and acrylics, with some past work in pastels and oils and enjoys painting a variety of subject matter, including portraiture. Her own reference material of special people, places and nature inspire her work. She has been incredibly fortunate to study under Sabina Turner for nine years and taken numerous classes from Jeannie Vodden plus workshops from other talented artists. She learns something new with every painting and likes to push herself to keep growing as an artist.
Melissa’s work has been accepted into juried shows in California and Washington and several awards have been given to her work including Best of Show in Amador County Fairs.
You can often find her work in various businesses in and around Sequim as well as in juried and non-juried shows. You can see more of her work on her website www.melissadoyelart.com.
