From Trash to “Trashion Fashion”

At a recent Blue Whole Gallery meeting, creativity took an unexpected turn as members participated in a unique “Trashion Fashion” challenge. With just 15 minutes on the clock, participants were tasked with designing fashionable clothing items using nothing but random trash materials.

Both groups utilized the caution tape in creative ways. One group created a tile hat with a veil and caution tape streamers, while the other created a hoop skirt and hat, also with caution tape. The challenge highlighted the potential for sustainability in fashion. By transforming everyday waste into wearable art, the event served as a fun and thought-provoking reminder of the creative possibilities hidden within discarded materials.

If you would also like to create some “Trashion Fashion” the Sequim Arts Commission in partnership with the Sequim Irrigation Festival will be offering two free “Trashion Fashion” workshops. The workshops will be held on Saturday, February 22, and Saturday, March 29, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Guy Cole Center in Carrie Blake Park, located at 202 North Blake Avenue.
