At the Writers Read event on April 9th, the poets explored the many forms of siblinghood – by blood, by bond, and by creative community.
One of the afternoon highlights came from Dianne L. Knox who offered a unique perspective on familial ties with her piece titled, “Blue Whole Family”. Inspired by our Blue Whole Gallery, the poem drew a parallel between the artistic collective and the chosen families we create. The gallery is more than a place. It is a living, breathing siblinghood of color, canvas, and collaboration.
We are honored to share Dianne’s poem with you here.

This group of writers are amazing with the work the present every month. It is wonderful to be able to sit and listen to them read what they have written.
WOW! Thank you so much for sharing my feelings. This gallery sings!
