Spotlight on Pema Anuthea: November Student of the Month

The Blue Whole Gallery is thrilled to introduce Pema Anuthea as the November Student of the Month. Pema’s artwork reflects her passion for drawing at an early age. We appreciate her ability to draw with technical precision but also for its emotive quality.

“Hello! My name is Pema Anuthea and I am a freshman at Peninsula College in the running start program, and a junior in high school. After I complete my AA degree at PC, I am hoping to transfer to a four year college and study animation and graphic
design. I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil, and almost all of my free time is spent creating some form of art. I enjoy acrylic, watercolor, pastels, markers, pencil, charcoal, and digital art. I also do photography, and am a writer and musician as well!”

“I have three artworks currently displayed at Blue Whole Gallery. The first and largest is an assignment I recently completed for the drawing methods and materials class I am currently taking at PC, and is drawn freehand with no help from a ruler. It is my take on the word ‘sunny’ written in Tengwar, the script J.R.R. Tolkien created to write the languages of middle earth and the elves. The second is a self portrait I drew in pencil, and the third is a digital drawing with three portraits that I completed last fall and was the beginning of my more realistic and less stylized art.”

Join us in celebrating Pema’s drawings as she continues to grow as an artist. You can view her artwork in the the gallery during the month of November.
