Lisa Gilbert art books

Local artist Lisa Gilbert will present a demonstration at the Blue Whole gallery of book arts and book binding on Saturday, March 29th from 1:30-3:00pm. She will provide hands-on experience giving participants the opportunity to create a simple book structure using paper and waxed linen thread. Materials will be provided at no charge.

Gilbert, a book artist since 2008, has taken dozens of book arts and printing classes in the US and England. She has taught many classes in the US and has exhibited her books in galleries, studios and stores. Gilbert started making blank journals and artist books before moving to more complicated, three-dimensional structures. Each piece is truly one of a kind, incorporating unique paper, fabrics, collage, thread, text, ephemera and natural treasures. During the demonstration on March 29th, participants will have the opportunity to sign up for more in-depth classes offered by Lisa through Blue Whole Gallery. Classes will begin on Sunday April 13th from 3-6pm.
